Dr. Maruthappu’s firsthand experience coordinating care for a relative highlighted the obstacles that care providers and seekers face motivating him to leverage technology to enhance healthcare delivery. He noted: “We’re taking pressure off the NHS and supporting it has more capacity to care for more expanded into other service lines such as nursing services, physiotherapy, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and providing mental heads in the home.
It now provides over 60,000 in-person healthcare visits each day across UK homes. It works with more than 150 local governments and two-thirds of NHS Integrated Care Systems.
Unlike competitors like Home Instead and Bluebird Care, which use standard software, Cera uses its own AI-driven platform. This platform is more accurate and efficient, using advanced analytics.
The technology can predict more than 80% of falls a week in advance, and 83% of hospitalizations seven days ahead. It helps reduce falls by 20% and hospitalizations by up to 70%. These predictions allow healthcare providers to take action early and prevent health issues.
It’s app allows carers and nurses to collect patient symptoms and health data during home visits. It detects changes in health 30 times faster than traditional methods, enabling quick action and responses to any issues.
The platform also brings together different parts of home healthcare, such as care planning, scheduling, real-time communication between caregivers, patients, and families, visit verification, medication management, and remote patient monitoring.
Cera reports daily savings of £1 million for the UK healthcare system, demonstrating its potential to address systemic inefficiencies while improving care quality. Rob Platek, partner and global head of credit at BDT & MSD, commented: “Cera has achieved strong growth through a demonstrated ability to leverage technology to deliver exceptional care. We believe Cera is well positioned to scale its business further.”
As Cera grows and improves its AI platform, it is set to have a bigger impact on the UK healthcare system. This could help reduce pressure on the NHS and improve the quality of care for patients across the country.
