This funding will help it to scale up its production of 100% biodegradable fishing products. MINUS2 is investing in the startup to support its vision of sustainable fishing and biodegradable plastic alternatives, which could have a wide range of applications.

Capt’n Greenfin, founded by Jonas Loïc Urwyler and Nico Hauschke, is known for its Greenfin Soft Baits, which are an eco-friendly alternative to plastic lures. These baits fully dissolve in water within three weeks, leaving behind proteins that help fish and plants.

The company also offers lead-free jig heads made from a special alloy and is working on a biodegradable hard-plastic option. Capt’n Greenfin works with its community to improve its products and invites anglers to test the Greenfins in their favorite fishing spots.

These sustainable soft baits are made from natural proteins, colored with coffee grounds, and flavored with garlic concentrate. They are designed to reduce environmental harm by avoiding microplastics and toxins.

The company claims that their 100% organic baits have been tested according to OECD 249 standards, proving they are safe for fish and aquatic ecosystems.

The durability of the baits depends on the water temperature. They last 1-2 hours in waters below 18°C and degrade faster in warmer water.
