SUMMARY

  • US-based support automation company Capacity has acquired Swiss AI firm Starmind, combining two complementary approaches to enterprise knowledge and setting a new standard for how organizations access information.

While companies have long invested in documenting knowledge through wikis and databases much critical expertise remains undocumented and exists within employees’ experience and judgment.

Starmind, founded 16 years ago, specializes in identifying who holds specific knowledge within organizations, helping surface expertise that cannot be captured in written form.

As generative AI grows, this capability becomes increasingly important. While AI can process documented information it often lacks real-world context and accountability. Starmind addresses this by connecting users with the right human expert when needed.

The two companies initially collaborated through a shared enterprise customer where Capacity enabled access to documented knowledge and Starmind connected users to human expertise. The success of this integration led to the decision to combine both solutions into a single platform.

While enterprises have long relied on wikis and databases much critical knowledge remains unwritten and inaccessible to traditional AI systems. Starmind was founded to solve this gap, developing technology that identifies who knows what within organizations and connects users to the right experts for deeper insights.

Through the acquisition Starmind’s technology will become a core part of Capacity’s platform, expanding it beyond documented information to include real-time human expertise. The combined solution will allow enterprises to use AI for structured knowledge while seamlessly connecting with the right people when experience and judgment are needed.

Starmind will continue developing a unified layer that brings together both documented and undocumented knowledge within Capacity, creating a more integrated and seamless user experience.

This marks a new phase for Starmind, as its expertise in connecting organizations to human knowledge becomes part of a broader platform aimed at making enterprise knowledge more complete, accessible, and actionable.

“Enterprises don’t fail because they lack documents. They fail because they can’t reach the people who actually know,” said Marc Vontobel, CEO of Starmind. “Starmind has spent 16 years making undocumented knowledge accessible. Becoming part of Capacity allows this capability to scale globally and become a core building block of modern enterprise AI.”

“Our mission has always been to help teams do their best work by simplifying how organizations support customers and employees,” said David Karandish, CEO of Capacity. “By bringing Starmind into Capacity, we’re strengthening the knowledge foundation behind every customer and employee interaction. We’re connecting directly to the expertise inside organizations so the right answers and guidance are delivered instantly, across every channel.
