Swiss battery startup BTRY has secured $5.7 million in an oversubscribed Seed round.

SUMMARY

  • Swiss battery startup BTRY has secured $5.7 million in an oversubscribed Seed round.

The financing was led by European deep-tech VC Redstone, with participation from Bloomhaus Ventures, Linear Capital, Kickfund, Kick Foundation, and new investors including CustomCells founders Leopold König and Torge Thönnessen. Existing backers HTGF and Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) also renewed their support.

BTRY’s thin-film solid-state batteries offer ultra-fast charging, high-temperature resilience and non-flammable safety outperforming traditional lithium-ion cells. Using semiconductor-inspired solid-state techniques, BTRY creates thinner, safer and longer-lasting batteries, designed for reliable performance in compact connected devices.

BTRY’s batteries safely operate at temperatures up to 150°C, where conventional cells risk failure, swelling, or ignition. At just 0.1mm thick, they charge in about a minute and can power wireless transmissions directly. Designed for high-value applications—smart labels, industrial sensors, and compact electronics—their solvent-free, low-waste production supports sustainability.

The oversubscribed round confirms strong investor confidence from experienced deeptech and industrial backers. Working closely with this international consortium will enable us to transform world-class research into a scalable product, said Dr.Moritz Futscher, CEO and Co-founder of BTRY.

The funding will accelerate BTRY’s industrialisation of ultra-thin solid-state batteries, offering fast charging, extreme temperature resilience, and inherent safety in one of the world’s thinnest formats. The company plans to scale roll-to-roll manufacturing, build production infrastructure, optimise industrial processes, and secure offtake agreements for integration into next-generation devices.
