SUMMARY
- Norwegian startup Bsure has raised $2.1M in a seed round to help companies identify and address blind spots in their Microsoft environments.
The funding was led by Scale Capital, with participation from existing US-based investors.
Most companies use identities like people, apps, and services that require access to perform tasks. Over time, these access rights accumulate and are seldom reviewed or removed, creating security risks and inefficiencies.
In many Microsoft 365 environments, user accounts and admin roles accumulate faster than they can be managed. Old permissions linger, inactive users remain enabled, and blind spots emerge.

The need for identity visibility solutions is urgent. Microsoft’s 2024 Digital Defense Report shows over 90% of account compromises involve forgotten or unmonitored accounts.
EU regulations like NIS2 and DORA require organisations to track and control digital access, with fines up to €10M or 2% of global turnover. By 2028, Gartner predicts 70% of CISOs will adopt identity visibility tools to reduce unauthorised access and strengthen security.
We often see that up to 40% of user accounts are inactive. That represents both a security risk and unnecessary cost. Companies are often genuinely surprised when they see the real picture for the first time, says Henrik Skalmerud, CEO and co-founder of Bsure.
Bsure serves over 200 customers across nine countries in both public and private sectors. The new funding will support team expansion and international growth, strengthening its presence in the Nordics and U.S.
The company will also enhance product development, focusing on scalability, easy deployment, and AI-driven features for actionable identity visibility.
