SUMMARY

  • Goldfinch Holdings is a London-based film financier, and Digital Genesis Fund from Luxembourg are creating a €17.8 million fund to support new media projects using tokenisation, AI, the metaverse, and TMT infrastructure.

The fund will match Digital Genesis’s €17.8 million investment deal-by-deal with Goldfinch International, creating a new way for studios to invest together in future technology.

This partnership was announced during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and will be officially revealed at the TechCannes Industry event.

Their goal is to build a decentralised entertainment system powered by blockchain technology.

Hendrik Hey, Managing Director & Co-founder of the Digital Genesis Fund says, “This must be what it felt like when the first Hollywood pioneers built their studios and set a new era of storytelling in motion. Today, we find ourselves at a similar turning point — but this time, the canvas is infinite: a three-dimensional, transparent, and interactive metaverse. Visual media is no longer locked inside a screen — it breathes, it responds, it surrounds us. We are no longer just creating content; we are building worlds. And in these worlds, everyone becomes part of the story.”

Goldfinch International, the global investment arm of Goldfinch, will match the fund’s initial amount. It’s led by Justin Deimen and Phil McKenzie.

Their first move is acquiring Lumiere, a token-based crowdfunding platform focused on content financing. Run by Patrice Poujol, Lumiere is seen as a key strategic asset. It’s backed by big names like Animoca Brands, Brinc, Rolling Stone, and RS Productions, giving the fund a strong base for growth in blockchain-powered content.

Beyond Lumiere, the partners have more projects lined up. These include The Squad, a Web3 production studio built around the new Film3 model, and MILC (Media Industry Licensing Content), a metaverse-based hub for content production and licensing.

MILC, created by Hendrik Hey (founder of media group Welt der Wunder), is growing into a full platform for both businesses and consumers. It offers tools for financing, rights management, branded content, and digital distribution.

As part of their global plans, the team will launch partnerships and co-investments around the world. Their first stop: the Indonesia Creative Investment Forum, later this year. Hosted by Goldfinch Indonesia with Synco, Goshen Prime, and Indonesia’s Creative Ministry, the event will spotlight products like Lumiere and The Squad to global investors.

To power these plans, they’ve secured infrastructure support — including advanced pixel streaming tech from ARCWARE in Germany. The ecosystem will also use AI-driven production tools and smart licensing systems to make content creation faster and easier.

Looking ahead, the fund aims to build a strong pipeline of tokenised intellectual properties (IPs) and open up co-production and funding opportunities for studios and investors worldwide.

With a focus on innovation and decentralisation, this new fund sits at the intersection of media, finance, and technology.
