Paris-based BioFluff secures €2.2 million in seed funding. Astanor Ventures, a well-known global leader in agrifood tech impact investing, led this round. This fundraising came after a €450k pre-seed round sponsored by SOSV, PDS Limited, and Joyance Partners in 2022.
BioFluff CEO Martin Steubler said, “At the close of this seed round with best-in-class impact investors, we are poised to scale our unique approach to reducing reliance on animal and synthetic-derived products in the textile industry, This investment will accelerate our mission to provide brands with better materials for a cleaner future.”
BioFluff seeks to revolutionise the luxury textiles sector by providing a novel, eco-friendly, plant-based substitute for materials derived from animals and plastic.
Christina Ulardic, Partner at Astanor Ventures said, “We were impressed by the passion and determination of the founding team. Biofluff has a unique offering for the luxury industry, fashion and textiles which is in full alignment with the Astanor mission of a more regenerative economy,”.
Additionally, BioFluff announces the official launch of its luxury materials brand, Savian. Using patented methods, Savian is a revolutionary line of natural plant fiber-based fur, shearling, and fleece-like fabrics.
The vegan collection utilises natural and mineral-based dyes to provide a wide variety of materials and is completely devoid of genetically modified organisms. Leading designers and premium clothing businesses have already taken notice of Savian, which sets the bar for sustainability.
BioFluff established in 2022 by computer scientist turned fashion tech entrepreneur Roni Gamzon, seasoned textile executive Steven Usdan, and biologist Martin Steubler. Renowned venture capital firms have recognised and supported the company for its creative approach and commitment to sustainability.
