SUMMARY

  • Arbonics, a European carbon removal company, has launched in Sweden through a partnership with Treebula, the country's biggest digital forestry platform.
  • Treebula helps forest owners unlock the full potential of their forests by offering digital tools and smarter ways to manage their land.

This partnership allows Swedish forest owners to earn money by protecting their forests and storing more carbon through carbon credits.

Arbonics Offer

Founded in 2022 by CEO Kristjan Lepik and COO Lisett Luik, Arbonics uses data and technology to improve forest management and protect biodiversity. The company works with landowners across Europe to plant more trees and manage forests better.

These efforts aim to capture carbon dioxide and create verified carbon credits, giving landowners an extra source of income.

Sweden's forests are the largest carbon sink in Europe, covering two-thirds of the country and helping store carbon. Nearly half of these forests are privately owned by over 300,000 people, many of whom depend on timber harvesting for income.

As climate policies change, forest owners are looking for new ways to earn stable income while also protecting their forests.

Johan Junker, Sweden Country Manager at Arbonics said, “We are proud to launch our offering in Sweden together with Treebula. Swedish forest owners hold natural capital worth billions, which makes forests an important asset. Through smart, data-driven forest management, they can create both economic and climate benefits, while securing their forests for future generations,”.

Adam Aljaraidah, Co-founder and COO of Treebula said, “By combining our technologies, we’re not only offering forest owners a new revenue stream but also ensuring that corporate buyers receive high-quality, verifiable European carbon credits. This is what will drive the credibility of nature-based credits forward."

The company already works in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, and plans to expand to the UK and two other EU countries in 2025, with €5.5M in funding raised at the end of 2023.
