Amsterdam’s Mews Acquires US-based AI Startup DataChat

Amsterdam-based Mews, a hospitality operating system provider, has acquired US-based AI company DataChat.

The acquisition will enable the Dutch unicorn to develop fully autonomous hospitality systems. Integrating DataChat’s technology will speed up the creation of AI-driven agents across key areas like reservations, operations, distribution, revenue optimisation, and guest experience.

This follows Mews’ recent acquisition of UK-based Flexkeeping, which automates hotel operations and housekeeping.

Founded by Viken Eldemir, DataChat focuses on natural language processing (NLP) and automation across industries like retail, finance, and telecommunications.

Its platform lets users interact with data through simple language, enabling them to generate insights, workflows, and predictive models without any coding expertise.

“At DataChat, we’ve built technology that bridges the gap between human understanding and machine capability,” says Viken Eldemir, CEO of DataChat.

“By combining conversational interfaces with automated data reasoning, we’re going to be building agents that understand intent, reason across data sources, and act autonomously, which will bring an entirely new level of intelligence and personalisation to hospitality. This will mean Mews hoteliers can get answers to questions without having to run or interpret reports,” adds Eldemir.

Led by Matt Welle, Mews has built the Mews Hospitality Cloud to simplify hotel operations, enhance guest experiences, and boost profitability. Its clients include BWH Hotels, Strawberry, The Social Hub, and Airelles Collection. With over 5,500 customers in 85+ countries, Mews has raised $410M from investors like Goldman Sachs, Kinnevik, and Tiger Global.
