SUMMARY
- Amsterdam-based agtech startup Source.ag, which helps greenhouse farmers optimize operations using AI, has raised €15M in a Series B funding round.
The round was led by Astanor, with participation from seed breeder Enza Zaden, grower cooperative Harvest House, and others. Astanor, an impact investor focused on building a regenerative food system, supports over 50 innovative agri-food companies across Europe and North America, from seed to growth stage.
Hendrik Van Asbroeck, Managing Partner at Astanor, says, “Making the food chain more sustainable is our objective, and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is a necessary technology to achieve this. Since our initial investment, Source.ag has proven that AI is the key to scaling climate-resilient food production. They have successfully transformed AI from a promising theory into an indispensable operational platform for the world’s largest producers of fresh fruit and vegetables.”
This latest funding brings Source.ag’s total capital raised to over €52M within five years. The investment will fuel global expansion, accelerate product development, and enhance its AI suite, following the company’s recent expansion into North America just five months ago.

Rien Kamman, CEO and co-founder of Source.ag says, “This Series B funding is confirmation that the industry believes in our vision: innovation in the food chain is only possible if AI companies work closely with the industry. Our ambition is to provide everyone with sufficient fruit and vegetables in a climate-proof way. This investment confirms that the market sees us as the AI partner that will lead the sector into the future.”
Founded in 2020 by Rien Kamman (CEO) and Ernst van Bruggen (CPO), Source.ag is building AI-powered greenhouse technology to make the production of fresh fruits and vegetables more accessible, efficient, and sustainable worldwide.
Source.ag leverages millions of data points on climate, biology, and resources to create optimal production plans through proprietary algorithms that simulate plant behaviour.
Since 2020, its software has been deployed in over 300 greenhouses across 18 countries, covering 2,500 hectares supplying tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers to around 40 million people daily.
Greenhouse farming is highly efficient but increasingly complex to manage manually. Acting as an “AI co-pilot,” Source.ag centralises data and digitalises growing practices, enabling precise yield forecasts and fully automated irrigation. The result: higher productivity, improved quality, and greater efficiency from growers to consumers.
“The key player is the grower, the person who ensures that healthy food is available in the supermarket every day, and we build the solutions they need to do this even better,” adds Kamman.
