[Fudning alert] Dutch-based Social Platform Amigos Raises €1M Funding

Feb 26, 2024 | By Team SR

Dutch-based social platform Amigos raises €1M funding from former directors of Booking.com, Hyves, and Ahold. The Amigos app, which has over 800,000 users, says that investors will be crucial in helping the company get through this development phase as it pursues global expansion.

Supporters of the Dutch startup include Tsibo Lin, director at KHN Amsterdam; Hans Willemse, former CIO of Ahold Europe; David Vismans, former CPO of Booking.com and CTO of Hyves; and Bart Peute, CEO of YourTicketProvider, a division of CM.com.\

Corsten says, “Thanks to my work, I’ve had the opportunity to visit many places in the world, but wherever I go, people are happiest when they come together – in real life. I think it’s great that Amigos now provides a platform that makes it easy to meet others and make new friends.”

Amigos is a social network that was created in 2021 by Johanan Fraanje that links users through in-person interactions. With 800,000 users in seven countries and more than €3 million in funding, the app makes getting together for group activities easier. By selecting a "mood" as an interest, users can immediately connect with people who share their interests in dining, socialising, or sports.

By offering users connections, social stimulation, and surprises, the platform hopes to break up the monotony of daily life and inspire users to venture beyond their comfort zones and realise their full potential.

Amigos is a real-world substitute for social media sites like Instagram and TikTok, emphasising sincere conversations over extended on-platform usage. The investors will collaborate closely with the business in the next months to direct the platform's worldwide growth.
