Zurich-based AI startup Albatross has secured €10.5 million in new funding to build a real-time product and content discovery platform that learns, reasons, and adapts to user interactions.

The round was led by MMC Ventures, with participation from Redalpine, Daphni, and several strategic angel investors.
This latest raise brings the company’s total funding to €13.5 million, following a €3 million foundation round in September 2024 led by Redalpine.
Founded in 2024 by former Amazon AI leaders Dr. Kevin Kahn and Dr. Matteo Ruffini, alongside serial entrepreneur Johan Boissard, Albatross is tackling what the team sees as a major gap in today’s AI ecosystem.
While much of the field focuses on large language models that generate content, Albatross is building a complementary foundation understanding how users interpret and engage with content in real time. Its platform uses transformer-based architecture and sequential embedding models trained directly on live user events.

Conventional recommendation systems are usually batch-trained and depend on signals like popularity, similarity, or past behaviour, which limits their ability to reflect real-time intent. Albatross replaces these static systems with continuously learning AI that updates within milliseconds as users browse, search, and interact without the need for manual tuning or retraining.
The result is a system that responds instantly to shifts in user behaviour, delivering more adaptive and contextually relevant recommendations.

The platform is already processing billions of live events and generating tens of millions of predictions monthly across global marketplaces, retail, and travel platforms, handling roughly one hundred million products and tens of millions of users.
