Biotech startup Adaptyv Bio has raised €34.35 million ($40 million) in a Series A funding round. The company is building an automated laboratory that helps researchers design and test proteins using AI.
SUMMARY
- Adaptyv Bio raised €34.35M ($40M) in Series A funding.
- The round was led by Highland Europe.
- The new funding will support the company’s growth and technology development.
The funding round was led by Highland Europe. Existing investors Ace Ventures, ByFounders, and Y Combinator also invested again. Ace Ventures had previously led Adaptyv Bio’s €6.8 million ($8 million) seed round in late 2024.
“AI has made it easy to design proteins. Many teams can now create thousands of candidate molecules for a target in an afternoon. Finding out whether those molecules actually work is still the hard part. That requires a wet lab. But most wet labs were built for a world where scientists tested twenty designs per target, not two thousand. Adaptyv closes this gap,” ACE Ventures.
Adaptyv was founded by Julian Englert and Daniel Nakhaee-Zadeh Gutierrez. The company has built an automated lab that uses AI to help design and test proteins.

The process starts with a digital protein design and ends with real experimental results. Adaptyv makes the required DNA in-house and produces proteins without using living cells. It then tests how well the proteins bind to other molecules.
Customers can send their protein designs through Adaptyv’s website or API. This also allows AI agents to directly order and run experiments, making the protein research process faster and more automated.
